    Storytelling In Poetry

At the heart of poetry is story. An effective narrative poem implicates the reader in plot—carrying us along till the very last line. And a poem does not have to be long to do this well. Award-winning poet, Kate Buckley, will provide an overview of narrative poetry (one of the oldest recorded forms of poetry), as well as explore the broader purpose of storytelling in poetry. Specific techniques, forms and examples will be shared and discussed, then Kate will lead the workshop in creating their own narrative poems. Please bring pen, paper, and a nicely whetted curiosity.
