Costume Design: A Hidden Tool of Storytelling

In real life, what you wear says a lot about you. And behind every character in every movie or TV show is a meticulously chosen wardrobe. While we may not realize it, costumes give writers and directors another amazing tool to give us insight into the characters and their story worlds. During this unique session, learn one more level of storytelling and how costume designers use costumes to tell stories and define characters – through their wardrobe, their choices of what to wear and what not to wear, why they wear it, how period pieces work, and more.

“Fashion is not the primary effort in motion pictures. It’s to tell the story.” – Edith Head, 8-time Academy Award-winning costume designer
